Ambassador of South Africa Visits Griffith College Dublin Main Campus

This week, we were delighted to welcome two very special guests to our Dublin Main Campus. Nicolette Schreiber, the Ambassador of South Africa, and Mabet Van Rensburg, Counsellor at the South African Embassy in Ireland, both gladly accepted an invitation from President Diarmuid Hegarty to speak to our students about their careers and experience in international relations and diplomacy.
Speaking to a packed room of students from a variety of programmes such as Law, Journalism, and Psychology, HE Schreiber spoke first about her career and varied experience across human resources, international relations, and clinical psychology. The Ambassador discussed the challenges and realities of taking on the role of an ambassador, including the hard work and dedication that is an absolute requirement to fulfil such a role. However, she also discussed the joy, pride, and fulfillment that comes with this career and encouraged students in the audience to consider how they can use the transferable people skills required for an ambassadorial role in their own lines of work.
Mabet, the Counsellor, then went into detail about some of the key skills which have helped her in her career so far, such as not being afraid to ask questions and being adaptable, before a Q&A session which gave students the opportunity to chat with our distinguished guests brought a close to the event.
We would like to say a huge Thank You to both Nicolette and Mabet for visiting our campus and sharing such fascinating insights with our students!
