Griffith College, Ireland’s largest private third-level institution, honoured journalist Brian Jennings with the ‘Professional Excellence Award’ at its graduation ceremonies in Dublin today. Jennings, a respected RTÉ journalist, was recognised for his nearly four decades of dedication to Irish radio and journalism.

The ceremony, part of Griffith College’s November graduation events from November 5th to 7th, was marked by admiration and reflection on Jennings' distinguished career. Programme Director and Senior Journalism Lecturer Barry Finnegan, who addressed the attendees, praised Jennings' unwavering commitment and exceptional professionalism.

“Brian’s time as a journalist, news reporter, and newscaster to date has been a great service to this nation,” Finnegan said. “For almost 40 years, Brian Jennings’ calm professionalism has encapsulated all that is good about Irish journalism and Irish radio. Reliable, dependable, reasoned, measured, fair, accurate and importantly, an absolute pleasure to listen to.”

This accolade continues Griffith College’s tradition of recognising individuals who have made significant contributions nationally and internationally.

Professor Diarmuid Hegarty, founder and president of Griffith College, expressed his pride in honouring Jennings, known for delivering news to the nation each morning on Morning Ireland.
