How is my fee status determined?

At Griffith College we have three different statuses

  1. Non-EU Fees status is assigned to any learner with a passport from a country that is not a member of the European Union, where they do not have any other permission to reside in the Irish state, other than an Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) Stamp 2 or 2A, or for learners who require any immigration support from Griffith College during the period of study.
  2. Irish/EU Living Abroad Fees status is assigned to any learner with a passport from a member country of the European Union, where they make their application via the international Office of Griffith College
  3. Irish/EU Living in Ireland Fees status is assigned to any learner with a passport from a member country of the European Union, where they make their application via the Central Applications Office (CAO) for undergraduate studies, or directly to the Griffith College Admissions Office in the case of advanced entry bachelor degrees, or for an advanced degree.

Notes:

  1. Where Irish/EU Living abroad status is assigned to a learner on a multi-stage programme, the second and subsequent stages of said programme will be charged at Irish/EU Living in Ireland fees status.
  2. Where Non-EU status is assigned to a learner on a multi-stage programme and, before the commencement of the second or subsequent academic years of said programme, their residency status changes such that they no longer require an Immigration Stamp 2 to study in Ireland, we will apply a fee reduction such that net fees equal the Irish/EU Living in Ireland fee rate. The learner’s status with Griffith College will otherwise, remain the same. The International Office submits a Scholarship Form to the Learner Fees Office who will then reflect this arrangement on their fee account.
  3. Where Non-EU status is assigned to a learner on a multi-stage programme and, their residency status changes such that they are eligible for Irish/EU Living in Ireland status after registration on a particular stage of said programme, their fees status will not be re-examined until this stage is completed, and no refunds will be considered. Thereafter see (2.) above.
  4. Where a leaner, with Non-EU passport commences a programme with an Irish/EU Living in Ireland Fees status (see 1.1 above) i.e. has a valid Irish working or residency visa; and that expires before the end of said programme, the learner will be afforded the option to register on the Non-EU fee status and receive the necessary visa support. The Non-EU fee status will be applied retrospectively for the full academic year if visa support is required at any point during a programme of study.

Where a learners visas status changes, and they do not wish to continue with their programme of study, no refund of fees paid will be due.

Progression Scholarships

GC level 7 to GC Level 8

Where a Non- EU Griffith college learner completes all three years of an ordinary (level 7) bachelor degree at Griffith College and then progress to the award year of a level 8 programme, the level 8 award year, GC will apply a fee reduction such that net fees equal the Irish/EU Living in Ireland fee rate. The International Office submits a Scholarship Form to the Learner Fees Office reflecting this arrangement.

GC level 8 to GC level 9

Where a Non- EU Griffith college learner completes a level 8 bachelor degree at Griffith College and then progress to a GC master’s degree level 9 programme, GC will apply a €4,500 fee reduction such that net fees equal the to best rate for Non-EU in-Ireland. The International Office submits a Scholarship Form to the Learner Fees Office reflecting this arrangement.
