What will happen on the day?

Firstly, there will be lots of pictures taken on the day, so be prepared to pose!

Students are required to wear an academic robe for the ceremony. The robe collection point will be indicated by signage on campus and must be returned to this location once the conferring ceremony and photographs have been completed.

If you have successfully completed your course in 2024, you will be officially conferred by the President of the College, Diarmuid Hegarty. Your name will be individually called and you will be invited to collect your award on stage in the Griffith College auditorium. This is a wonderful opportunity to recognise what you have achieved as both an individual and as a class group!

You will also have the opportunity to have your photo taken on campus by a professional photography company. Please note that graduates must arrange this directly with the photography company, not through the college. Details on how to do so will be communicated to students before the graduation ceremony.

Once the ceremony and photographs are completed on campus, many students decide to celebrate with friends or family at a restaurant. In contrast, others may prefer to have a quiet night at home. Either way, take a moment to be proud of yourself and your achievement!

How do I prepare for the day?

Your graduation day is bound to be a busy one, so we want to help you be fully prepared and enjoy it free of stress! As well as the emails you receive from the graduation office with guidance for the day, you can also refer to our Graduation page. But if you want our top tips, here are some steps you should try and take ahead of the big day:

  • Register your interest in attending and apply for up to two guests to attend with you. Please note: tickets are strictly limited to two per graduate.
  • Book your academic robes, which you must wear for the ceremony.
  • Book a professional photo to be taken on-site after the ceremony. Graduates arrange this directly with the photography company, not through the college.
  • For information and links on arranging all the above, please visit our Graduation page.

It is also important that you are punctual throughout the day to ensure you don’t miss out on anything important. Therefore, we recommend arriving with your guests an hour before your ceremony. We advise guests to make their way to the auditorium 30 minutes before the ceremony begins. In comparison, students should go to their academic line-up area to join their class 30 minutes before the ceremony begins.

What if I can’t attend?

While we strongly encourage you to join us to celebrate your achievements on campus at Griffith College, we understand that not everyone can make it on the day.

If you do not attend your ceremony, you will be conferred in absentia. Fortunately, it is still possible for you to join your classmates and attend your graduation ceremony virtually, as Griffith will be providing a live stream of each graduation on the College’s YouTube channel.

For those not attending, in the weeks before ceremonies commence, the Graduation office will email you with information on arranging to collect your parchment from the college or arranging to have it posted to you. Please note: you will not be able to collect or get your parchment posted until the weeks after graduation ceremonies have finished.

Most importantly, we hope that you have fun! Your graduation is a truly significant event to celebrate all that you achieved during your time at Griffith College, and it is also an opportunity for us to thank you for choosing to complete your studies at our College. We can’t wait to see you there!
