GC50 Highlights: Celebrating 1980s Alumni
Griffith College, currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, has been a cornerstone of academic excellence in Ireland.
From its humble beginnings as Business and Accounting Training (BAT) in Milltown Park, the college has produced a myriad of successful professionals who have made significant contributions across various industries. Here, we highlight some of our distinguished alumni and their remarkable achievements over the decades.
Celebrating Griffith's 1980s Pioneers of Excellence
1982: Owen O'Leary
1st Place in Ireland, ACA Foundation Examination 2
Owen O'Leary, a chartered accountant with extensive experience in the professional services industry, is currently an interim CFO at Marvinet Ltd. "Congratulations on 50 years! I loved my time at Griffith College (formerly Business and Accounting Training). Here's to another 50!"
1985: Martin Freyne
1st Place in Ireland, ACA Prof 3 Examination
Martin Freyne completed his training contract with PwC in 1988, spent years working abroad, and eventually retired after 25 years as an Assurance partner at PwC. He now sits on various boards and committees in both the commercial and charity sectors.
1986: Joseph Buckley
1st Place CPA Formation
Joseph Buckley heads finance, contracts, and audit for the European Commission, managing the administration of the EU’s development aid programmes in Africa and Asia.
1987: Cornelius Quigley
1st Place in Ireland, ACA FAE Examination
Cornelius Quigley is a corporate financier with extensive experience, currently serving as a non-executive director at Ei Electronics, chairman at ExperiQHTL Ltd., and strategic advisor at BDO Ireland.
1988: Adrian Kelly
1st Place in Ireland, ACCA Level 3
With over 40 years at ESB, Adrian Kelly now serves as the business operations manager in the Enterprise Services Business unit and a trustee of the Defined Benefit Scheme.
