Graphic Communication Design Students Dive into Packaging Design at CoLab Packaging
Our BA in Graphic Communication Design students at Griffith College visited CoLab Packaging company, where they immersed themselves in the art of printing, prototyping, and packaging. The visit began with an insightful tour of CoLab’s state-of-the-art facilities, which provided a behind-the-scenes look at various stages of packaging production, from initial design concepts to the final printed product.
This hands-on experience allowed the learners to apply their design studio knowledge, experimenting with unique designs, colours, and materials under the guidance of CoLab’s expert team. They tackled the complexities of creating functional yet aesthetically pleasing prototypes, balancing creativity with practicality.
Inspired by their visit, the students returned to class and eagerly began working on their own prototype boxes. The practical session at CoLab not only challenged their design abilities but also honed their problem-solving skills, and emphasised the importance to our group of durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness as designers.
It is great to see the final projects our learners produced, and incorporating their new skills and knowledge gained by visiting CoLab!
