Peter Boyne’s Journey: From Forensic Science to Powering Ireland’s Renewable Future

Peter Boyne, a Griffith College student from Dublin, discovered his true career path after a pivotal change in his academic journey. Originally enrolled in Forensic Science at TU Dublin, Peter found that online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic didn’t suit his hands-on learning style.

This led him to EirGrid’s Earn and Learn programme, where he could gain practical experience while continuing his education. Now, as a Market Associate at EirGrid, Peter is contributing to Ireland’s renewable energy future and advancing his studies through Griffith College, where he’s currently pursuing a diploma, and in September, he will begin a Level 8 Business degree part-time.

Peter’s journey underscores the valuable role that Griffith College plays in supporting students who seek flexible and practical education pathways. By combining work and study through the Earn and Learn programme, Peter has found both a fulfilling career and a passion for renewable energy, noting, “EirGrid’s Earn and Learn programme was exactly what I was looking for. EirGrid would support my college education while allowing me to be financially independent and gain experience by working in the office.”

We are excited to see Peter's education journey grow with Griffith College!
