This is a programme taught by filmmakers for people who want to make films. Stemming from the Screen Media Production module of Griffith's innovative BA in Film, TV and Screen Media Production, this fully practical course is based on current industry best-practice in short-form screen media content production and emulates real-world film, TV and screen media industry processes.

Course Details

This certificate comprises one module on Screen Production.

This practical module is based on current industry best-practice in short-form screen media content production and emulates industry processes to equip you with the basic practical skills to produce short-form audio-visual branded content/commercial content for multiplatform distribution. You are introduced to the practical skills needed in each phase of screen media production – pre-production, production and post-production – and make informed, logical and creative decisions at every stage.

The objective of this module is to teach you with the ability to conceive ideas and develop original material that is suitable to approach the production of a short factual item for multiplatform distribution. You will learn to make informed logical and creative decisions at every stage. This practical module equips you with a range of specialised video production skills such as scheduling shoots, scripting ideas, location filming, location recording and varied editing techniques.

This is a direct entry programme. All applicants can apply directly through our website.

No prior knowledge is assumed.

For Certificate programmes, the following applicants will be considered:

  • Candidates who wish to gain knowledge and skills in screen content production.
  • Candidates who want the flexibility to explore and experiment within the field of content production, and consider possible future careers in the field.
  • Candidates may wish to pursue further study and may use this learning experience as an access pathway to do so.
  • Applicants who have completed their secondary education, and are applying on the basis of their Leaving [of a minimum of five subjects at grade O6/H7, to include English or Irish, and a grade of O6/H7/F2 or above in mathematics].
  • Candidates with equivalent grades from other awards will also be considered. Mature learners, over 23 may also apply for consideration.

Fees

For purposes of fee calculation, residence is counted from time of application.

Dublin: EUR 1,160 (+ 250EUR Registration charge, + 2% Learner Charge + QQI Award Fee)

General Fee Information 

An Academic Administration Fee of EUR250.00 and a 2% Learner Protection Charge are applicable in addition to the fees quoted.

2% Learner Protection Charge

All QQI accredited programmes of education and training of 3 months or longer duration are covered by arrangements under section 65 (4) of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 whereby, in the event of the provider ceasing to provide the programme for any reason, enrolled learners may transfer to a similar programme at another provider, or, in the event that this is not practicable, the fees most recently paid will be refunded.
