The Diploma in Management and Leadership is available online part-time over two 12 week semesters. The course places a strong emphasis on practical management skills and has been developed with career progression and recognition by professional bodies in mind. It is designed for candidates from any sector or industry and gives the learner an opportunity to:

Course Details
This course runs for 2 semesters * 12 weeks * 2 nights per week (Monday, Tuesday 18.30 - 21.30). Occasionally we schedule extra classes if the lecturer feels the group needs additional time.
This course attracts a diverse group of learners – graduates/non graduates, young/mature, male/female, Irish/International where all students benefit from the outlook and experience of their peers.
Online / Part-Time Limerick Campus
Learners may work through the stages of the qualifications (award, certificate & diploma) over time and will achieve the Professional Diploma on successful completion of seven units. Alternatively, learners may register to take the Diploma in full over a period of twenty-four weeks.In this course you will learn about the theories that have shaped the understanding of leadership and management and how these ideas have provided a guide to action for managers and leaders who secure success for their businesses. Consideration will be given to leadership styles and how and why they are used and the extent to which they are effective.
The award consists of one unit:
- Principles of Management and Leadership
The award delivered fully online, over six weeks. Learners may progress on to the Certificate stage where they will complete three further units.
The Professional Certificate in Management and Leadership provides learners with an opportunity to build on the topics covered in the award in Management and Leadership. Learners will develop wider technical and strategic management knowledge to enable them to progress into roles with additional management or functional responsibilities.
The Certificate consists of four units:
- Principles of Management and Leadership
- Strategic Business Management and Planning
- Strategic Decision Making
- Human Resource Management.
Units are delivered fully online over twelve weeks. Learners may progress onto the Diploma stage where they will complete three further units.
The Diploma in Management and Leadership extends the knowledge and skills learned throughout the award and certificate stages. It provides learners with an opportunity to develop wider technical knowledge to support competence in roles such as Manager, Senior Manager or Department Head through the study of a selection of themes such as people, innovation and change management.
The Diploma consists of seven units;
- Principles of Management and Leadership
- Strategic Business Management and Planning
- Strategic Decision Making
- Human Resource Management
- Staff Recruitment and Selection
- Innovation and Change Management
- Corporate Communications.
Units are delivered fully online over twenty-four weeks.
Part-Time Dublin City Centre
This unit focuses on leadership and management theories and principles, leadership styles and motivating and managing performance.

Entry Requirements
This qualification is for all learners who are capable of reaching the required standards.

Applicants can apply online directly.
Applicants under 23 years of age:
Based on experience pending interview with programme director.
or
5 O6/H7 grades, to include a language (English, Irish or another language) and Maths.
Applicants over 23 years of age (Mature students):
Learners over the age of 23 do not need any prior qualifications, however they are likely to be employed in an operational, technician, associate professional or operational/departmental management role; already have core occupational competence and knowledge within the sector, but are aspiring to progress to middle management level.
Non English native language applicants
In the case of all applications, the Programme Director will make a call on competence in the English language, based on the evidence as provided at course application stage. Griffith College supports BTec’s strong inclusivity policy by making the course available to everyone who is capable of reaching the required standards.

Progression
Academic Progression
Upon completion of the course, learners can progress onto a range of certificates, diplomas or degrees in business.
Career Progression
This qualification allows graduates to enter a variety of management level careers where professional management skills are required and valued in a wide range of environments. It also allows graduates to progress within their existing career.
