Overview
What is the Erasmus + programme?
Erasmus+ is a European education programme that promotes exchanges between students, teaching staff and administrative staff throughout participating countries.
The main specific aims of the Erasmus+ programme are to:
- Improve the mobility of students and staff
- Increase the degree of transparency and compatibility between higher education and advanced vocational education qualifications gained in Europe
Staff mobility refers to opportunities for academic and administrative staff to travel to work or teach at partner institutions.
Teaching Mobility
Teaching Mobility
The objectives of this staff mobility for teaching are:
- To encourage higher education institutions to broaden and enrich the range and content of courses they offer
- To allow students who do not have the possibility to participate in a mobility scheme, to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of academic staff from higher education institutions and from invited staff of enterprises in other European countries
- To promote exchange of expertise and experience on pedagogical methods
- To create links between higher education institutions and with enterprises
- To motivate students and staff to become mobile and to assist them in preparing a mobility period.
Teaching mobility enables staff to spend a teaching period at a higher education institution in another participating country.
Full-time academics can teach at one of our partner institutions, once that institution agrees. Your trip must be between two and five days (excluding travel days) and include a minimum of eight hours’ teaching.
The partner higher education institutions must have agreed on the programme of activities to be undertaken by the visiting academics (teaching programme) prior to the start of the mobility period.
Staff Mobility
Staff Mobility for Training
The objectives of staff mobility for training are:
- To allow the staff of higher education institutions to acquire knowledge or specific know-how from experiences and good practices abroad as well as practical skills relevant for their current job and their professional development
- To help building up cooperation between higher education institutions and enterprises
- To motivate students and staff to become mobile and to assist them in preparing a mobility period.
Staff members are selected by the sending higher education institution. The sending institution and the receiving institution/enterprise must have agreed on the training programme undertaken by the staff member, prior to the start of the mobility period.
Staff can receive training abroad from 2 working days up to 2 months (excluding travel time), with a minimum of 8 hours training per week. If mobility duration is for 2 working days or more but less than 5 working days, the 8 hours minimum training load still applies.
Language training and attendance of conferences and seminars are not recognised as ERASMUS-funded.
Staff may also participate on a structured group Staff Training week provided by institutions. Details of the range of structured and tailored Staff Training weeks can be found at: IMotion Staff Week Search and ShipCon

Inward Mobility
Inward Mobility
Griffith College welcomes academics and staff members that are from our Erasmus partner institutions. Inward mobility participation contributes greatly to our internationalisation strategy and is embedded in the Griffith College Strategic Plan objectives 2014 – 2022:
‘Increase the internationalization of the College and its learner community through the international diversification of its curriculum, student and staff base, and through active engagement with quality international partners’
To date we have over 140 global partnerships. This fantastic achievement is due to the relationships built between our academic and staff champions promoting outward and inward mobility. They work in close collaboration with the project management team in the international office and our partner institutions. Academic and staff mobility has been successful due to the long-standing relationships we have with our international partners and our commitment to develop and growth this programme for the mutual benefit of Griffith College and its partners.
Erasmus and Exchange
Erasmus and Exchange
Participating in an ERASMUS or student exchange programme with one of our partner institutions offers the perfect opportunity to enhance your international experience and become acquainted with student life in another county. Griffith College has a selected group of Erasmus partners in Europe. Every year we provide opportunities for students to participate in an Erasmus programme with another Erasmus country. These Erasmus opportunities are organised and coordinated by the international office. ERASMUS grants consist of a travel contribution, based on the distance travelled, and a monthly contribution to the students’ expenses abroad.
