Biography

Deirdre Doherty has been at Griffith College in the area of Third Level Design Education Management since 2004. Deirdre has led the Design Faculty in programme design and curricula development at both under grad. and post grad level. She has led successful validation and programmatic reviews in BA hons Interior Design/Architecture, BA hons Fashion Design, Ba Hons Communication, Cert. in Art & Design and MA in Design ( Interior Architecture), Springboard Post Grad Special purpose Diploma's Awards in BIM, Project Management and Entrepreneurship, Diploma in Retrofit, Conservation and Sustainability. 

As Programme Director Deirdre engages in College-wide issues such as policy formulation, Management of academic processes, policy discussion (e.g. Learner participation, lecturer training, ICT developments, learning resources, quality procedures and proposals etc. She is also involved in academic management and day-to-day running of their programmes involving scheduling, delivery and learner and lecturer assessment. 

Deirdre is an internal member of Griffith College Committees, Marketing, Strategy and Information Systems & E-Learning. Deirdre is a long serving member of the Institute of Designers in Ireland was on council member for many years and was honorary secretary. Deirdre was an External Examiner for MA Interior Design Birmingham City University. She has also has been an external academic for Interview panels for CIT, NCAD, DIT and validations in LYIT. In her earlier career Deirdre has worked as a Multimedia, designing e-learning programmes for pharmaceutical industries. Deirdre also worked for a large multinational telco on their various multimedia platforms.

Professional & Academic Memberships:

Cumulus: A global association that serves art and design education and research. It is a forum for partnership and transfer of knowledge and best practices.

- Interior Educators (IE) is a well-established interior design / interior architecture course that is offered across the UK. It is a unique group in that it provides a forum for debate and the exchange of ideas and practice affecting the education of designers of interior space
