Biography
Sarah Brennan has a BA in Drama and Theatre Studies from the Samuel Beckett School of Drama, TCD. She also holds an MA in Creative Writing from UCD and has completed the Certificate in Training and Education with GCD. Sarah has worked as a drama teacher for twenty years. During this time, she was a member of staff with Young People’s Theatre, as well as working as a professional actress with most of Ireland’s leading theatre companies including Rough Magic, B*Spoke, Landmark, Pan Pan, Lane Productions and Barnstorm. She has also worked extensively for RTE Radio 1. As a director, Sarah started with her own theatre company, X-Bel-Air, producing and directing many productions as part of the Dublin Fringe Festival. Her recent directing work includes, ‘Three Men Talking About Things They Kinda Know About’ which was nominated for the ‘Little Gem’ Award at the Absolut Fringe Festival (revived as part of the ‘Turnaround’ repertory season in Project Arts Centre.) The production has since toured both nationally and internationally. Most recently, she directed ‘Walk for Me’ at Dublin Fringe, 2017. Sarah has directed and choreographed musicals for Young People’s Theatre, including ‘Bugsy Malone’ (Draoicht) and ‘Chicago’ (Mill Theatre) as well as working on many school productions at Primary and Secondary level. Sarah is co-founder of SB Theatreworks, a drama school based in Rathfarnham, South Dublin, and has been a lecturer on the Higher Diploma in Drama Education at Griffith College since 2014
