Apprenticeship incentive scheme to be offered

It has been announced that employers across Ireland will be entitled to a financial incentive to the value of €3,000 when taking on apprentices, under a new scheme announced last week.

Apprenticeship model

Ireland's newly appointed Minister for Higher Education and Innovation Simon Harris intends to expand the apprenticeship model to include a wider variety of sectors within the Irish economy as it recovers from COVID-19.

Scheme

In Ireland, there are currently 18,000+ people under the apprenticeship scheme within a wide range of occupations. Such trades include electrical, construction, engineering, healthcare, ICT and financial services.

Employers can avail of this incentive from March to the end of 2020.
