Congratulations to Griffith College Bursary Winner
The winner will go on to study Fashion Design at Griffith College
Congratulations to Grace Kenneally, Junk Kouture 2021 finalist, who won the Griffith College Bursary Tuesday night with her with Songge Da Long piece!
Junk Kouture is a competition for secondary school students ages 13-18, where they must create high-end fashion to wear from 'junk'.
Jane Leavey Programme Director of Fashion Design at Griffith College and Junk Kouture technical Judge, selected Grace Kenneally from Dundalk Grammar School, Co. Louth as the winner of the Junk Kouture Griffith College Bursary to study Fashion Design on our BA Hons in Fashion Design degree. Speaking about the winning design Songge Da Long, Jane Leavey said
“I was struck by the unique design concept which celebrated a blend of influences from her Eastern Asian heritage. Grace demonstrated fantastic innovation by skilfully combining the traditional Japanese Art of Kintsugi with Vietnamese craft whilst creatively reusing salvaged materials. Her outfit and Nón lá inspired leaf hat was a truly circular design, an extremely important aspect of sustainable fashion.”
