Dr Annie Doona appointed chairperson of Griffith College's Academic and Professional Council
The Academic and Professional Council is Griffith College's highest academic body.
Griffith College is delighted to announce that Dr Annie Doona has been appointed chairperson of the college’s Academic and Professional Council.
The APC oversees programme development and quality assurance practices across the College.
Announcing the appointment, Professor Diarmuid Hegarty, president of Griffith College, said “I am delighted Dr Doona has accepted this senior academic position within the College. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise from her previous roles in higher education. Her commitment and dedication will play a key part in the further development of Griffith College as we deliver on our strategic vision for the institution.”
Dr Annie Doona is Emeritus President of the Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT). She has been involved in developing national strategies for further and higher education in the UK and Ireland, with extensive experience in strategy development, educational leadership, curriculum design and delivery, equality and diversity. Dr Doona has been a member and chair of quality review panels, validation panels, programmatic and institutional reviews in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
Dr Doona is currently Chair of Screen Ireland. She is a member of the Institute of Directors, Women in Film and Television Ireland and the European Women Rectors Association. She speaks and publishes on diversity and women in the film industry.
A graduate of the University of Sheffield, Dr Doona achieved her Doctorate in Education in the School of Continuing Education at the University of Nottingham.
