Griffith graduate shows at London Fashion Week
Griffith College was delighted to see Fashion Design graduate Naoise Jo Farrell proudly display her collection at London Fashion Week just last month.
Naoise received a First in the BA (Hons) in Fashion Design from Griffith College in 2018 and since then she has gone from strength to strength, with her designs most recently gracing the catwalk at one of London Fashion Week’s most sought after shows, Fashions Finest SS20. Since graduating, she has obtained roles at Primark and Avoca and has also featured in Vulkan magazine, The Irish Independent and Alinea magazine.
Fashions Finest SS20 displays a range of handpicked collections and aims to shine a spotlight on emerging designers from the UK and abroad. Attended by international fashion houses, the press and VIPs seeking out developing fashion trends, Naoise was certainly in good company.
Her collection, named ‘Mine Heritage’, was inspired by her childhood memories of her Grandfather’s storytelling from his time working in the Manchester coal mines. Her collection incorporates a mixture of industrial mining clothing with Celtic motifs for which she drew on her own Irish heritage.
Naoise said of the experience, “Showcasing my collection at London Fashion Week was a truly memorable experience and hopefully a stepping stone in my career. I made some amazing contacts and it was brilliant to see the industry in London. Seeing my designs on the catwalk for the first time is a memory I will cherish and I hope to capture again in A/W 2020."
We couldn’t be prouder of Naoise and of what she has achieved in the short time since graduating, and we can’t wait to see what she does next!
