Interior Architecture Graduate Shortlisted for Two IDI Graduate Awards 2022
BA (Hons) in Interior Architecture graduate Diego Nogueira was shortlisted at the IDI Graduate Awards 2022 yesterday in two categories, Interior Design and Architecture.
Speaking about his project, Diego said "The Chocolate Factory - Design Hub for Creative minds was my final individual project for my final year in college. The building, located in the heart of Dublin city, will be redesigned to be used as an office space for creative professionals who are looking for an inspiring, flexible and collaborative place to work. The offices will be used mainly by Graphic and Web Designers, 3D Designers, Architects and Interior Designers. The space will count on diverse workspaces, breakout areas, meeting rooms, coffee docks, an exhibition area, an event space and a restaurant with a bar and a café".
"To keep the story of the building alive as an actual factory, I decided to design a modern industrial place. In terms of material, for example, we have polished concrete running through the floors in all levels, also I have created some design features and work structures using birch wood, which is a very sustainable material, and all the walls have been painted white. Eight 4000 mm glass prisms have been installed on the ground level as part of a permanent exhibition. The light coming from the main void will be refracted by those prisms, filling the white walls with a beautiful light spectrum which varies with the time of the day", Diego continued.
Congratulations to Diego Nogueira on this excellent achievement.
