LSMD Showcase 2019
The Leinster School of Music and Drama were delighted to hold their 2019 end of year showcase at Griffith College.
The showcase featured students from LSMD’s academic programmes and was the culmination of their hard work from the last year. These programmes give students the skills they need to become qualified private drama teachers throughout Ireland.
The evening comprised a broad range of theatrical exhibitions, including performances from Frank McGuinness’ ‘Factory Girls’, ‘My First Confession’ by Frank O’Connor and multiple self-produced works from the drama students themselves. In the music corner, Chopin and Bach were elegantly performed on piano by Higher Diploma in Arts in Music Education student Simon Power, and numerous flute performances by Higher Diploma in Arts in Music Education student Sarah Hale.
Sarah Hale said of her experience, "I’m so grateful to the Leinster School for a wonderful experience on the H.Dip over the past two years, it's great to give a little back!"
Karen Casey, Head of the Leinster School of Music and Drama, said of the showcase, “The students of The Leinster School of Music and Drama’s academic programmes work incredibly hard throughout the year. The majority of them are balancing studies with several other life commitments so to see the energy with which they commit to class week in and week out is an achievement in itself. The showcase offers a mere glimpse of the hard work they all put in. I would like to commend them all on their fantastic performances and wish them all the best in their teaching careers!”
The Leinster School of Music and Drama is a constituent of Griffith College and one of the leading examining boards in music and drama in Ireland. They provide one to one lessons in music and drama, teaching support for thousands of music and drama teachers across the country, as well academic training for individuals who wish to become private teachers in either field.
