LSMD Student Wins Arthur Darley Memorial Prize at Feis Ceoil 2019
The Feis Ceoil competition attracts thousands of young musicians, giving them the opportunity to perform in front of international adjudicators.
The Leinster School of Music & Drama wishes a heartfelt congratulations to Fiachra de hOra on winning the 2019 Arthur Darley Memorial Prize at the Feis Ceoil competition on Thursday 11 April 2019, which was adjudicated by Jeremy Morris.
Fiachra’s unaccompanied performance of J.S. Bach’s Sonata No. 1 BWV 1001, Adagio & Presto saw him win the Arthur Darley Memorial Prize for 2019. Fiachra was presented by The Leinster School of Music & Drama with a specially bound copy of Bach’s Violin Sontas and Partitias, a gold medal and €150 cash prize.
Ten competitors took the stage on the night at the RDS Dodder Suite B. We would like to congratulate all competitors this year including Michelle Mc Carthy (VHC), Kevin O'Loughlin (HC), Bláithín Cotter (C), Emma Masterson (C) and Jenna Raggett (C).
Since its founding in 1896, the Feis Ceoil has become a national platform for musicians. The annual festivals are held before Easter each year and now see over 180 competitions taking place over a two week period.
