Return to class roadmap with The Leinster School of Music & Drama
Following the map
During these uncertain times, you may need assistance with your route back to the classroom. Considerations such as social distancing, hand washing, mandatory mask wearing and restricted group work for students are elements for consideration in the new normal. Further difficulties arise if you’re a teacher of a practical subject where working in pairs or groups is generally the norm. In particular music and drama classes will have to generate creative measures to ensure that students enjoy and feel safe in the classroom environment.
Free workshop
The Leinster School of Music and Drama at Griffith College is offering a free workshop to provide teachers with the tools to return to the ‘new normal’ safely and efficiently. The workshop will be hosted by Higher Diploma in Arts in Drama Education Programme Director Suzanne Binley and Higher Diploma graduate Niambh Doolan. It will provide teachers with practical advice for the new term.
The webinar will begin with a presentation provided by Alex Ralls. Alex has been creating roadmaps and tailored reopening plans for teachers and performance-based schools since the onset of the COVID-19 crisis. His exceptional knowledge and attention to detail has allowed many schools to offer their services under each phase of reopening. Teachers and business owners have found his knowledge base invaluable as they plan their return to class. Alex tailors each plan to the individual schools needs under Irish guidance and legislation.
Experience during lockdown
Alex's talk will be followed by a Q&A session with teachers who taught through the lockdown. The webinar aims to restore confidence in parents and students as schools nationwide open in the safest way possible. The workshops will cater for Speech & Drama, Performing Arts and Music teachers alike.
All welcome
This is an open invitation to teachers and educators of all subjects, who might pick up practical tips for re-opening and to share their own experiences.
The workshop facilitators are senior Leinster School of Music and Drama teachers and examiners who will distribute supporting material on the day. The examiners will also give tips on what they are looking for during the exams. We welcome teachers nationwide to join us for our exclusive workshop on Monday 24th August from 11.00a.m. -1.00 p.m.
