Empowering Future Entrepreneurs with The B!g Idea

The B!G Idea is an exciting creative education initiative that aims to put creative thinking at the centre of Ireland’s second-level education system. Griffith College is excited to play a crucial role in shaping the future of entrepreneurship through our participation in The B!g Idea programme. 

As mentors, the college injects excitement and energy into the journey of aspiring entrepreneurs, guiding them with personalised support to transform their groundbreaking ideas into thriving businesses. With a focus on practical learning, mentors at Griffith College engage with participants in hands-on activities and real-world case studies, preparing them to navigate the complexities of the business world with confidence.

Through The B!g Idea, Griffith College not only equips participants with essential business skills but also connects them with valuable industry networks and potential investors. Since 2021, The B!g Idea has creatively empowered over 6500 students and engaged with more than 750 diverse industry mentors in the programme. Caroline Bennis, a Griffith College Lecturer and Mentor, mentioned why she wanted to be involved in the project this year, noting:

“I am currently studying a Master's in Education, Learning and Development, so The B!g Idea programme is of great interest to me. My latest paper was on The Psychology of Teaching The Design Thinking Process, and I am excited to pass on this knowledge!"

This inclusive initiative ensures that aspiring entrepreneurs from all backgrounds have access to the resources and support they need to succeed. Speaking on this, Deirdre Doherty, Head of the Design faculty noted “Backing The B!g Idea project promotes creativity at the heart of Ireland's secondary education. By partnering with DEIS schools, we're not only fostering innovation but also levelling the educational playing field. It's about empowering every student to think creatively and ensuring equal access to opportunities, shaping a brighter future for all”.  

By fostering an entrepreneurial mindset and promoting innovation, Griffith College is empowering the next generation of changemakers to drive a positive impact and shape a brighter future for us all.
