Fashion Design Graduate, Hee Da Seo, Wins Big at the IDI Awards
Congratulations to our talented BA (Hons) in Fashion Design Graduate, Hee Da Seo!
Hee Da recently took joint first place in Textile Design and received a Highly Commended at the prestigious IDI Graduate Design Awards, held at the Belfast School of Art, Ulster University.
The IDI Graduate Design Awards showcased Hee Da’s exceptional talent and dedication cultivated during her time at Griffith College's Faculty of Design. We are thrilled to celebrate her remarkable success, which established her reputation as a rising star in the world of fashion and textiles.
Her collection, THE TRILOGY, stood out as a showcase of innovative design rooted in Irish culture and a commitment to sustainability. The collection is not only a tribute to Celtic mythology but also to traditional Irish sustainable crafts. It revives ancient hand-dyeing techniques, notably using a natural blue plant-based ‘woad’ dye and handwoven textiles inspired by Ireland's ancient Neolithic heritage. The judges were particularly impressed with how Hee Da skillfully merged these heritage crafts in a contemporary style.
The collection features a unique three-layer design system, allowing each piece to be worn separately or layered together for different styles, encouraging a sustainable and adaptable wardrobe. In an industry increasingly focused on sustainability, THE TRILOGY emerges as a striking fusion of creativity and environmental consciousness.
We are incredibly proud of Hee Da and excited to see how she continues to make her mark on the fashion world!
