Griff FM Cork Is On Air NOW!
Legendary Cork DJ Stevie G is launching Griffith College’s student radio station Griff FM in Cork this morning.
The DJ will join hosts Amanda Cowhig and Joe McCarthy on The Breakfast show to chat about his experience as a radio DJ. Stevie G aka Steven Grainger has been DJ-ing in Cork for over 20 years and recently launched his own record label Soul Jamz Records.
“We’re absolutely delighted to have someone like Stevie G to launch our station. It is great to have such a known, loved and experienced local DJ to support Griff FM.”
- Tim van Wijngaarden, Station Manager
Broadcasting from Monday 9 – Friday 13 February 2015, Griff FM Cork is run by journalism students on the BA in Journalism at Griffith College Cork. Griffith College is one of Ireland’s largest independent third-level colleges. It recently opened the first dedicated third-level campus on the northside of Cork city. The campus is on the five-acre site of the former Marymount Hospice on Wellington Road.
The station goes live once a year for one week only every February. From this month, students will also broadcast monthly podcasts of some of the radio station’s more popular shows. These Griff FM podcasts will take place on the last Friday of every month.
Each show will see presenters discussing relevant local, worldwide, and entertainment news; the latest video game releases; sporting news and events; and the newest music artists on the scene.
