Outstanding Women in Business: Griffith College Marketing Manager and Programme Director – Sinead O’Dea

The first Outstanding Women in Business event is organised by an inspirational team, including Griffith College Cork's Sinead O’Dea. We spoke with Sinead in the lead up to the event

Q. What is your relationship with Griffith College?

I’m the Marketing Manager at Griffith College Cork and Programme Director for the MSc in International Pharmaceutical Business Management.

Q. Please tell us about your role in this event.

Working closely with my colleagues in Dublin and Cork, I am one of the organisers of this event. As a Network Cork member for the last number of years and surrounded by many hard-working and dedicated female students and colleagues at Griffith College, I saw an opportunity to create an event that would bring these two cohorts of women together to network and be inspired by the experiences of a selection of outstanding women that have excelled in their careers.

Q. What comes to your mind when you hear “Outstanding Women in Business”?

The common denominator with all the panelists is that they had patience, they worked hard, they didn’t take the easy route to achieve what they have achieved. They believed in themselves and diligently went about their business, working quietly and consistently, building up their experience and knowledge. They committed to their goals to continuously grow and didn’t give up. This is what makes them stand out.

Q. What would you like to see stem from this event?

I would like all the panelists and the audience to leave with a renewed sense of confidence and self-belief in their ability to change, grow and try something new in order to progress with their companies or careers.

Wouldn’t it be a great result if an alumna and a Network Cork member met for the first time at this event and in one or two years from now they launch a ground-breaking product or service, that would give me great satisfaction.

Q. What is your advice to all the “Outstanding Women” in the crowd?

Have patience, enjoy what you do and never stop learning.
