Zara King Honoured by Griffith College Cork with Distinguished Graduate Award
Griffith College presented an honorary award to Zara King, Virgin Media’s Southern News Correspondent, during its graduation ceremonies in Cork on Thursday, November 14, 2024. King received the Distinguished Graduate Award in recognition of her outstanding contributions to Irish news media, especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, where her calm and insightful reporting provided clarity for many amid societal upheaval.
Professor Diarmuid Hegarty, Founder and President of Griffith College, praised King’s achievements, stating, “The College is delighted to honour Zara King in recognition of her continued success and growing contribution to the Irish media industry.” He noted that the award aligns with the College’s tradition of recognising individuals who have made significant impacts at both national and international levels.
The ceremonies were held at Griffith College’s Wellington Rd campus in Cork.
Griffith College celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2024. As part of GC50, the college has organized a series of initiatives to mark this milestone.
