Biography
Hilary Fennell is a producer, director, writer and lecturer. Programme-making awards include Best Documentary from the Celtic Film Festival and the Santa Monica Film Festival; the Gold Hugo from the Chicago International Film Festival; three New York Festivals awards and nominations for an Irish Music Rights Organisation award and two Irish Film and Television Academy awards. Hilary has worked in all genres of programming, both behind and in front of the camera, at Irish National Broadcaster RTE and in the independent sector.
She now concentrates on making documentaries. Her work has been broadcast internationally and screened at major festivals. As a journalist, she has been interviewing and writing for national media for over twenty years. She is also a recognised fiction writer. Prizes include The Sean O'Faolain Short Story Competition and being shortlisted for the Fish and McLaverty Awards. Hilary originally graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an honours law degree (LL.B, Bachelor in Laws) and qualified as a barrister from The Kings Inns Dublin (BL, Barrister-at-Law).
