Spotlight on Success: Rachael Blackmore, Irish Jockey

Rachael Blackmore Griffith College Alumni

Griffith College Dublin's Business graduate Rachael Blackmore has gone on to make history in the world of horse racing. In fact, her recent achievements are amongst the most impressive in any sport.

Her first-place finish in the 2021 Grand National and 2022 win at the iconic Cheltenham Gold Cup ensured her name would go down in the history books, as she became the first-ever woman to claim the two biggest prizes in National Hunt racing.

However, Rachael's achievements are not limited to the racecourse. At the end of 2021, she capped off an incredible 12 months in the saddle by becoming the first Irish person awarded the BBC Sports Personality World Sport Star of the Year award. She also claimed the RTÉ Sports Person of the Year in the same week.

Just last year, Rachael was made an honorary MBE for outstanding services to sport in Britain.
