Spotlight on Success: Steve Ryan, Portrait & Food Photographer

Steve Ryan

In this edition of our Spotlight On Success series, we introduce you to Griffith College alumni Steve Ryan. Steve is an exceptionally talented portrait and food photographer from Kilkenny whose portfolio features clients such as Guinness, Tabasco, British Airways, Movember, and Jamie Oliver.

Steve studied for a diploma in photography at Griffith College Dublin from 2004-2005 and went on to win the News Photographer of the Year award at the Smedia Awards in 2005.

Interestingly, Steve has also used his skills to venture into the food and drinks industry. Since moving to London in 2010, he has become a Co-Founder and Managing Director at 40FT Brewery, an independent brewery based in Hackney, London, which produces fresh and modern beer. He is also co-founder and director and part of the editorial team at Root + Bone, an independent food magazine based in London published by a small team that aims to 'explore the fun side of food'. In 2022, he founded and became a Director at Acme Fire Cult, a live-fire restaurant located in Hackney.

Steve's fantastic work was featured on this year's highly coveted Murphia List 2024. Published in association with Bord Bia, the list showcases 'Irish talent contributing to the creativity of London's food and drink scene'.

We encourage you to use the links provided to discover more about Steve's business endeavours. If you are ever looking for somewhere to drink or dine in London, you know where to go!

We congratulate Steve on his achievements and wish him continued success in his creative endeavors. To stay up to date with Steve's work, you can follow him on Instagram or check out his website.
